It’s introduction time.
I’ve you’ve been following the site or come in contact with us at one of our recent events you might be wondering what we’re all about here at Weekly Level Up. Well, for the site, that one’s pretty self explanatory, we’re a news site, for all things gaming and the like. Then there are our tournaments, now there might be a few questions here and hopefully they all get answered below. For the time being Tournaments will only be run by Weekly Level Up – South Africa, we plan to start expanding this in the next year or two as well.
The WLU League South Africa :
The WLU League is in essence a seasonal competition that will run from February through November every year. Every WLU or WLU affiliated event during this time will count towards a points allocation. The points you or your team rack up will affect your standing in the current WLU season. At the end of the Season the top teams will be invited to take part in a large scale finals tournament. Each season will begin with a points reset and a large scale tournament where initial seeding for that season will take place. We currently consider any and all applicants with the only pre-requisite being that players or team must be in theory at least able to attend the Finals should they be eligible.
The WLU League currently consists of Heroes of the Storm and Hearthstone events only with more titles to be added soon.
Initial seeding for the 2016 Season of the WLU Hearthstone League has already taken place and our current standing look as follows :
We’ll be updating this with portraits and player bio’s after the first WLU League Regional on 5-6 March 2016.
Initial seeding for the WLU Heroes of the Storm League will take place at the first WLU League Regional on 5-6 March 2016 at Gaming4Charity, Grand West, Cape Town.
Each WLU League event will be standardized and in addition to scoring points towards the finals will have minimum cash payouts as well as hardware and merchandise.
Our aim for the WLU League is to add some much needed structure to eSports in South Africa while giving players peace of mind in knowing that any WLU League event will have the same standard and minimum payouts/prizes.
Registration to the WLU League is automatic once you take part in any WLU League sanctioned event. Should you wish to register for the League outside of an event you can do so here.
Keep an eye for the launch of the official League website later this month!
